Tragic A19 Crash Kills Beloved Mum Claire Laybourne
This is the first picture of Claire Laybourne, 39, a beloved mother who lost her life after a suspected hit-and-run on the A19 at Holystone, North Tyneside. The devastating smash happened around 10.40pm on Friday when Claire’s car collided with a Skoda Fabia and a Volkswagen T-Roc, both heading northbound.
The driver of the Skoda fled on foot, leaving Claire with life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to hospital but tragically died on Saturday.
Police Launch Manhunt for Hit-and-Run Skoda Driver
Northumbria Police have launched an urgent hunt for the driver of a black Skoda Fabia, registration from 24-plate, who fled the crash scene. Three men, aged 20s and 30s, were arrested but later released on bail as inquiries continue.
Sergeant Dave Roberts from the Roads Policing Team urged local witnesses to speak up. “No matter how small you think the detail is, it could be crucial to cracking this case,” he said.
