Blaze Breaks Out at Hove’s Imperial Hotel
Emergency crews raced to the Imperial Hotel on First Avenue, Hove, after a fire erupted on Tuesday afternoon (23 December 2025).
Fourth Floor Fire Sparks Panic
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was flooded with calls about smoke at 3.11pm. By 3.45pm, firefighters confirmed flames had broken out in a fourth-floor room. They tackled the inferno with one main jet, six breathing apparatus sets, and an aerial ladder platform.
Full-Scale Emergency Response Launched
The high-rise hotel prompted a multiple fire engine response from Joint Fire Control. Police and ambulance teams also rushed to the scene. All guests and staff were evacuated safely. No casualties were initially reported, but one person later received treatment for injuries at the site.
Firefighters Still Battling Blaze Hours Later
As of 5pm, crews remained on site, cutting away debris and damping down hot spots to fully extinguish the fire. Authorities warned the public to keep clear while emergency services carry out their work.
