Teen Arrested Over Shocking Sexual Assault in Newark Alleyway
Suspect Held After Grave Attack
Detectives have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a horrific sexual assault on a teenage girl. The incident unfolded in a dark alley off St Mary’s Memorial Gardens, Newark, around 7.45pm on Thursday, 28 December 2023.
Investigation Ongoing
The young suspect was taken into custody on 30 December on suspicion of rape. He remains held as police continue intense questioning and probe the case further.
Police Assure Community
Detective Inspector Stuart Barson of Nottinghamshire Police said:
“The victim and her family have been fully informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. Although a suspect is in custody, the investigation remains active. We urge anyone with information, who has not yet come forward, to get in touch immediately.”
“These incidents are thankfully rare, but we understand local concerns. We believe this was an isolated incident and encourage residents to speak to our officers if worried.”
