Chaos erupted at Canterbury Poundland on Saturday afternoon when two teenage yobs went on a rampage after being caught stealing. The shop was slammed into lockdown as the pair violently lashed out at staff and wrecked hundreds of pounds worth of stock in front of stunned Christmas shoppers.
Thieves Caught Red-Handed Trying to Swipe Advent Calendar
According to witnesses, the trouble started when the girls were nabbed attempting to steal a 50p advent calendar. When security tried to stop them, the pair threw biscuit boxes, spat, and swung punches at staff in a desperate bid to escape.
Staff and Shoppers Left Stunned as Violence Erupts
The violent scene quickly spiralled out of control. The girls punched employees and caused extensive damage to store fixtures. The manager slammed the doors shut, locking shoppers inside while the chaos unfolded. Meanwhile, other teens egged on the criminals and filmed the mayhem.
“One mum was shielding her young kids’ eyes and hurried out in shock,” said a witness.
Police Step In to End Mayhem
Kent Police arrived after the manager’s frantic 999 call. Officers arrested the two teenagers on suspicion of theft and criminal damage, bringing an end to the dramatic ordeal.
