Chaos as Multiple Treated for Poisoning
Panic gripped South East London after several people were rushed to hospital with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. Emergency teams, including the elite Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), paramedics, and rapid responders, swarmed a home in Carlton to save those affected.
Major Incident Declared Across London
Authorities have declared a major incident across the capital. Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade and a specialised HAZMAT unit raced to the scene to contain the deadly gas threat. Some victims were already receiving urgent hospital treatment as the situation unfolded.
Investigation Underway as Police and Medics Coordinate
The source of the carbon monoxide leak remains unknown as Met Police assist the London Ambulance Service at the scene. Officials are keeping details tight while probing the cause of the dangerous gas escape.
James Johnson, Strategic Commander for the London Ambulance Service, said:
“We were called at 9.32am today (16 December) to reports of an incident on Gallions Road, Charlton.
“We sent multiple resources, including standard ambulances, our specialist HART team, and Advanced Paramedic Practitioners. Our Specialised Operations Centre is coordinating the emergency response.
“This incident is ongoing. We’re working closely with other emergency services to manage the situation and keep delivering vital services across London.”
