£17,000 Cash, Ciggies & Baseball Bat Nabbed in East Kent Crackdown
Suspicious Stop on the A2
Kent cops made a stunning seizure during a late-night vehicle stop near Barham on the A2, close to Canterbury. At around 10:30pm on Monday, 20 January 2025, officers pulled over a Ford Focus driving suspiciously.
A search uncovered £5,000 in cash, 10,000 cigarettes, and a baseball bat – all with no clear explanation from the 21-year-old driver.
Arrest and Home Raid Follow
The driver was hauled in on suspicion of money laundering. Acting fast, police searched a nearby Canterbury property linked to the suspect. There they found another £12,000 in cash and 200 pouches of tobacco.
Police Hit Back Against Organised Crime
“Organised crime has a serious impact on our communities. This operation shows our commitment to disrupting these activities and seizing criminal assets,” said a Kent Police spokesperson.
Investigation Ongoing, Public Urged to Help
The suspect remains in custody as detectives dig deeper into the haul’s origins and possible gang ties. Kent Police are calling on anyone with info about organised crime locally to come forward—either through their website or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
This latest bust is part of a broader clampdown aimed at keeping Kenters safe from crime networks. More updates will follow as the probe continues.
