Man, 27, Dies in Brutal Church Lane Brawl

Police rushed to Church Lane, E11, at 10.59am on Sunday, 16 October after reports of a violent fight. Two men in their 20s were found injured. Despite emergency teams’ efforts, 27-year-old Zeqja Lumturi from Barking was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second man was taken to hospital and is expected to survive. His condition is not life-threatening.

Investigation Underway, No Arrests Yet

Specialist Crime North detectives are on the case but have made no arrests so far. A post-mortem will happen soon to determine the exact cause of death.

Detective Inspector Adam Callaghan said: “Our investigation is moving at pace and we are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry. Our priority is to find the person responsible and get justice for the victim and his family. I would appeal to anyone with information – no matter how small – to call police. Community Reassured Amid Shock

Chief Superintendent Simon Crick, overseeing policing in Waltham Forest and Newham, offered sympathy to the victim’s loved ones. He also reassured local residents:

“My thoughts and sympathies are with Mr Lumturi’s family and friends for their tragic loss. I can understand that this incident will have caused concern and shock in the local community and would like to reassure residents that we will have local officers patrolling in the area. Please speak to these officers; they will help allay any concerns you may have.”
