Eight Officers Gassed in Pepper Spray Attack by Angry Mob
Just after 5pm on Saturday, 26 September, public order police faced a hostile crowd that turned violent. A noxious substance, believed to be pepper spray, was hurled at officers, leaving eight suffering eye irritation.
Officer Speaks Out
Acting Detective Inspector Chris Rudd said: “Thankfully, none of the officers suffered lasting effects. But someone showed blatant disregard for their welfare by spraying a noxious substance at them.”
“We need the public’s help to identify the man pictured and bring those responsible to justice.”
