Two men held after violent hit-and-run with police in London
Brake-neck chase ends in crash and attack on cop
On Thursday evening, a high-speed police pursuit erupted in south London. Just before 6pm on 10 December, a Met officer on a motorcycle spotted a white Renault van blast through a red light on Whitehorse Lane.
The officer gave chase as the van smashed into several cars before grinding to a halt after colliding with three vehicles in nearby Tennison Road.
Cop punched and kicked amid chaotic arrest
When the officer tried to arrest the van’s driver, he was punched repeatedly in the face and also violently attacked by the passenger. Both men then fled on foot.
Paramedics from London Ambulance Service attended the injured officer at the scene, before rushing him to hospital. Thankfully, he has since been discharged but suffered multiple facial injuries.
Suspects nabbed and charged
Police arrested the two men the following day, Friday 11 December. They face charges including:
- Dangerous driving
- Assault on an emergency worker
- Failing to stop at the scene of an accident
- Driving without a licence
- Possession of class B drugs
Both remain in custody as inquiries continue.
