Paris was rocked on Saturday as a bomb threat forced a dramatic evacuation of the Eiffel Tower for nearly two hours. Police bomb disposal experts swooped in fast, putting the city on high alert and clearing the iconic monument along with its visitors.
All Levels Cleared Amid Tight Security
The evacuation hit every inch of the tower’s three levels, including its famous restaurant. Even the forecourt was cordoned off to keep people safe. Traffic was diverted, and public access was shut down starting from 12:15pm as officers raced to secure the scene.
Alert Lifted After Thorough Sweep
Authorities worked swiftly, and by around 3:30pm the all-clear was given. The Eiffel Tower reopened, welcoming visitors back to enjoy stunning views of Paris, as if nothing had happened.
Déjà Vu: Another Bomb Scare in 2020
This scare echoes a similar bomb threat back in September 2020, which also led to a lengthy evacuation. That incident was sparked by an anonymous tip-off, underscoring ongoing security fears surrounding major landmarks.
