Elderly Couple Tied Up in Shocking Guildford Burglary

An elderly couple in Guildford endured a terrifying home invasion when burglars forced their way into their Woodland Avenue house and tied them up. The attackers stole cash, jewellery, bank cards, and PIN numbers before fleeing.

Burglar Descriptions and Getaway Route

Surrey Police describe one suspect as a white man, around 6ft tall, stocky, in his 30s. He wore a dark woollen hat, a scarf covering his face, a dark padded coat, gloves, and faded jeans with turned-up hems. The second man was slimmer but no further description is available.

The robbers ripped a page from the couple’s address book and threatened to contact a neighbour to release them after they’d got what they wanted. Police believe the suspects escaped along Farnham Road, crossed a bridge, and headed towards Woodbridge Road. Their vehicle is thought to have been parked near the Nisa BP garage, where they used the ATM forecourt.

Police Seek Dashcam Footage from Motorists

Detective Constable Richard Cooper urged anyone driving the route between 7.20pm and 7.45pm on the night of Friday 9 February to check their dashcams. He said:

“This may seem like a long shot but we are looking at a very specific time frame for motorists on Woodbridge Road during this time.”

DC Cooper revealed the couple, both in their 80s, are “really distressed and shaken up” but thankfully unharmed. He added it’s a rare crime for the area and promised police are doing everything to catch the culprits.
