Bomb Scare at Tesco in Fareham Sparks Full Emergency Response

Police, fire crews, and bomb disposal experts from the Royal Logistics Corps rushed to Tesco on Quay Street, Fareham, this lunchtime after a suspicious package was found.

Store Evacuated, Town in Lockdown

The emergency call came in around 1pm on Thursday. The Tesco store was swiftly evacuated, and a safety cordon was set up around the area. Nearby shops were forced to shut, their staff evacuated, while bus services into and out of the town faced disruption.

Bomb Squad Steps In with High-Tech Gear

Specialist Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers remain at the scene, using an X-ray machine to inspect the device. Hampshire Police and firefighters from both Hampshire and the Isle of Wight continue their presence, keeping the public at bay.

Hampshire Constabulary spokesman: “Officers are currently dealing with a police incident on West Street, Fareham. A 100-metre cordon is in place from Poundland on West Street. We advise people to stay clear of the area for their safety. Thank you for your patience. We’ll provide updates when possible.”
