Teen Stabbed to Death During Primrose Hill New Year’s Fireworks
New Year’s Eve celebrations took a tragic turn when 16-year-old Harry Pitman was fatally stabbed in front of thousands at Primrose Hill’s fireworks display. The young teen’s family is devastated, left grappling with the unimaginable loss of their beloved son and brother.
Police Launch Murder Investigation, Teen Arrested
The Metropolitan Police have opened a murder probe into the shocking stabbing, which happened just before midnight on Primrose Hill, Camden. Another 16-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.
Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute to ‘Mischievous and Kind’ Harry
Harry, the second eldest of six siblings, was described as a bright and promising young man. His sister Tayla, 19, and brother Patrick, 18, recalled him as “mischievous and cheeky” but “without a bad bone in his body” who always stood up for what’s right.
“It doesn’t seem real; I keep expecting him to come through the door,” said Tayla from their Tottenham home. “His dinner is still in the oven, and Mum can’t bring herself to take it out. He was my baby brother — the most handsome boy you could meet. Now he won’t grow up.”
Patrick added, “Harry and I shared a bedroom for most of our lives. He stayed with me just two nights ago. We played video games and talked about getting older. That’ll never happen now.”
Harry’s Dream: To Join the Army and Follow Family Legacy
The teenager attended Wilbury Primary and St Thomas More Secondary School. A devoted Catholic, he was confirmed at St John Vianney church last Easter. Harry dreamed of joining the army and the SAS, inspired by his great-grandfather, a WWII sergeant major.
“Harry wanted to be on the frontline, following in his great-grandad’s footsteps,” Tayla said.
Detectives Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Grogan appealed for witnesses to help piece together the fatal altercation. “Harry was with friends near the viewing platform when the attack happened. Primrose Hill was busy and we believe others saw what unfolded but have not yet spoken to police.”
Forensic teams remain at the scene, and police urge anyone with information to call 101.
Harry’s tragic death is a grim reminder of the urgent need to tackle youth violence in London and beyond.
