Tragedy on A695: Pedestrian Fatally Hit by Car in Gateshead
A tragic crash early this morning has left a 42-year-old pedestrian dead on the A695 Ryton, Gateshead. The collision with a black Volkswagen Golf happened shortly after 6:10am between Woodside Lane and Stargate Lane.
Emergency Services Respond, Investigation Underway
Despite a rapid response from emergency crews, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. The road was shut both ways for nearly five hours while police carried out their investigation.
The driver of the Volkswagen cooperated fully. Northumbria Police have launched a formal investigation into the incident.
