50 Firefighters Battle Huge Grass Blaze in New Forest
Massive Fire Erupts Early Tuesday
Hampshire Fire and Rescue scrambled eight fire engines and a command unit to tackle a massive grass fire in the New Forest at dawn on Tuesday. The blaze broke out on Rollestone Road in Holbury, igniting a vast area of gorse and undergrowth.
Firefighters from Across the Region Join In
Crews from Hardley, Beaulieu, Hythe, Eastleigh, and Redbridge rushed to the scene to battle the rapidly spreading fire. Most of the New Forest was shrouded in smoke as firefighters fought to contain the flames.
Size of Blaze and Impact
- The blaze covered an area roughly the size of 50 football pitches.
- No injuries were reported.
- No homes or properties were damaged.
- The fire was successfully extinguished by 3.23am.
