Early Morning Crash in West Wight Leaves Eight Injured
Emergency crews raced to a dramatic crash in Colwell, Isle of Wight, in the early hours of Monday. A car flipped onto its roof, leaving eight people injured.
Firefighters Rescue Trapped Passengers
Two fire crews from Newport and a retained crew from Freshwater arrived at the junction of Norton Green and Colwell Road just after 2.30am. Firefighters used cutting gear to free those trapped inside and made the scene safe.
Paramedics Treat Victims On Scene and At Hospital
Isle of Wight Ambulance Service medics treated all eight people involved. One was stabilised on site before being rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport. The others received treatment at the scene and did not need hospital care.
A contractor was called in to recover the overturned vehicle.
