Tragic Death of Staffordshire Firefighter Alex Taylor in Newhaven Crash

Alex Taylor, a 31-year-old firefighter from Penkridge, Staffordshire, has died following a serious collision in Newhaven. The off-duty firefighter was riding his Suzuki GSXR motorcycle on the A515 towards Buxton when he crashed into a Skoda Octavia and a Nissan Navara.

The crash happened at 11:55 am on Tuesday, March 5, and left Mr Taylor with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends, family, and colleagues are mourning the loss.

Fire Service Pays Tribute

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Rob Barber expressed shock and sadness. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our firefighter Alex Taylor and we offer our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones,” he said.

“Alex joined the Service in 2010 and worked across Penkridge, Leek, Hanley, and most recently Tamworth. This news will be a devastating blow to everyone who knew him, and we are supporting our teams during this difficult time.”

Police Launch Urgent Investigation

Derbyshire Police are investigating the crash and are urgently appealing for witnesses. They want to hear from anyone driving in the area around the time of the collision, especially those with dashcam footage.

Officers are specifically looking for videos featuring a blue Suzuki GSXR 600 and a Honda CBR 600, which were reportedly riding together just before the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote reference 19*114102.
