Dramatic Fire Rescue in Islington Maisonettes
Firefighters sprang into action yesterday afternoon after a blaze broke out in a block of maisonettes on Hanley Road, Islington. The fire ripped through part of a split-level flat on the second and third floors of a four-storey building.
Two Rescued, Smoke Inhalation Victims Treated
Brave firefighters in breathing gear rescued one person via an internal staircase. Another was brought down using an aerial ladder. Two residents were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.
Massive Response and Fast Control
- Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters responded from West Hampstead, Stoke Newington, Islington, Hornsey, and Shoreditch stations.
- The Brigade received 17 emergency calls about the fire.
- The fire was reported at 1:29pm and brought under control by 2:13pm.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the blaze is now being probed by the fire brigade alongside the Metropolitan Police Service. No further details have been released as the inquiry continues.
