Girl, 11, Dragged by Drunk Man on Woolwich Manor Way
Two 11-year-old girls had a terrifying brush with danger on Thursday morning. At around 8.10am, while walking along Woolwich Manor Way, a man drinking from what is believed to be a bottle of alcohol grabbed one girl’s arm and tried to drag her away.
Quick-Thinking Friend Saves the Day
The brave friend refused to let go. She pulled her pal free, and the pair ran to safety. PC Harry Albon, leading the investigation, said: “Although the girls were not physically harmed, they were understandably shaken by this incident.”
He added that other youngsters walking to school at the time might have witnessed the struggle. Police urge anyone who saw anything to come forward now.
Police Hunt Tall Man with Navy Hat
Officers from the North East Command Unit are on the case, working with the school to support pupils and staff. They want to identify and arrest the suspect quickly.
The man is described as:
- Black male, about 30 years old
- 6ft tall, medium to chubby build
- Short dark hair, navy blue knitted hat
- Wearing a dark grey coat, black jogging bottoms, black T-shirt
- Possibly a navy-blue gilet
