Five Hospitalised After Serious Blaze Rips Through Walsall Home
Five people were rushed to hospital after a fierce house fire tore through Redwood Road in Walsall on Saturday night.
Massive Emergency Response Launched
Fire and ambulance crews scrambled to the scene at 10:16pm. The West Midlands Ambulance Service mounted a major operation, dispatching five ambulances, four paramedic officers, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), and two Critical Care Cars from Midlands Air Ambulance.
Child Suffering Life-Threatening Injuries
A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service revealed nine people were treated at the scene. Among them, a child suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.
“He received advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene before being conveyed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with medics travelling on board for further treatment en route,” said the spokeswoman.
Smoke Inhalation Hits Four Others
Two women, a man, and a teenage boy were also rushed to Walsall Manor Hospital after suffering smoke inhalation. Four additional patients were assessed but sent home with self-care advice, avoiding hospital admission.
Fire Still Under Investigation
Firefighters battled the blaze for hours, working hard to secure the area. Authorities are now probing the cause of the fire. Locals have expressed sympathy for those affected and praised the quick and professional response from emergency crews.
