Ex-S4C Boss Sian Doyle Rushed to Hospital After Overdose
Sian Doyle, former head of Welsh broadcaster S4C, was urgently admitted to hospital following an apparent overdose. The shocking incident happened just a day after a damning report slammed her leadership.
Husband’s Heartbreaking Plea
Her husband, Rob Doyle, found her unresponsive at home on Thursday morning. In a heartrending statement, he said, “This morning my wife, Sian, was rushed to the hospital. She had taken an overdose during the night and was unresponsive when I tried to wake her.”
Controversial Report Sparks Crisis
The critical report, commissioned by the S4C board, was based on interviews with 92 staff members and painted a grim picture of Doyle’s 30-year career, accusing her of fostering a “culture of fear.” The BECTU union backed these claims. Doyle has firmly denied all allegations.
Family Blames S4C Board
Rob Doyle blasted the report as an “assassination of her character” and called it the “last straw” in a mounting series of pressures on his wife. He added, “Sian was proud to come out of retirement to lead an organisation she helped campaign to create. But that pride turned to frustration, disappointment, fear, and finally despair.”
He also accused the S4C board and chairman of neglecting their duty of care and failing to step in to support her adequately during the turmoil.
