Police Shut Down Three Illegal Raves Across London This Halloween Weekend
London cops cracked down hard on unlicensed music events (UMEs) this Halloween weekend, shutting down three parties and dispersing hundreds of revellers to nip anti-social behaviour in the bud.
Fireworks and Fights Spark Police Response in Lambeth
At 11.43pm on Friday, October 29, police were called to Glasshouse Walk, Lambeth, amid reports of fireworks being set off. Officers found 300 youths packed into a community centre. As the crowd began to leave, multiple fights broke out. Fireworks and other objects were hurled at officers, forcing reinforcements to arrive. By 1.20am, the crowd was dispersed. One officer was treated for injuries sustained during the chaos.
Police Smash Raves in Southwark and Bethnal Green
Later, officers targeted another UME in railway arches on Corbetts Lane, Southwark. Roughly 150 people were found and quickly sent packing. The sound system was confiscated and the organiser hit with licensing offence reports. Police left at 3.45am, continuing their patrols.
Meanwhile, in Bethnal Green’s Birkbeck Street, police showed up at a planned UME with around 30 partygoers inside. They left without incident.
Warrants Lead to Arrests and Weapons Seizures
Police intelligence led to pre-emptive action against suspected organisers and suppliers. Warrants in Southwark resulted in three arrests and significant hauls of drugs, knives, and offensive weapons.
“These gatherings blight the lives of local residents,” said Chief Inspector Jack May-Robinson. “They often attract anti-social behaviour and can be dangerous environments. We’re working hard to seize equipment and stop attendees moving to new locations.”
“Extra patrols are out across London to keep people safe. If you have concerns, contact the police so we can stop these UMEs before they escalate.”
With Halloween festivities in full swing, London’s law enforcement is taking no chances, cracking down on illegal raves to protect communities from disorder and danger.
