Good Samaritan Fatally Hit Helping Woman in Sheffield
Sheffield is in shock after a tragic crash on College Close, Burngreave, claimed the life of Christian “Chris” Marriott, a devoted dad of two. The heartbreaking incident unfolded on December 27, 2023, leaving a community mourning a local hero.
Heroic Act Ends in Disaster
Chris was out with his wife and two young sons, aged six and eight, enjoying a post-Christmas family walk around 2pm. Trouble struck when he spotted an unconscious woman caught up in a street fight. Compassionate Chris didn’t hesitate — he left his family to help the injured woman.
Tragically, while administering first aid, a car slammed into Chris, the woman, and others at the scene. The collision caused multiple injuries and devastating loss.
Mourners Remember Chris, Police Hunt Suspects
Among the injured was an off-duty midwife who had also stopped to help. DCI Andrew Knowles described Chris as a “Good Samaritan” who lost his life saving a stranger. Chris leaves behind a heartbroken wife and their two young sons.
Police have launched a murder probe. Two men, 23 and 55, are held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. The woman Chris was aiding remains in critical condition. Others suffered both serious and minor injuries.
Police Plea: Community Help Needed
