Manhunt Underway After Hammer-Wielding Robber Strikes Twice in Shoreham
SUSSEX Police are on the hunt after two brazen robberies hit Shoreham back-to-back on Saturday morning (10 May). A suspect armed with a hammer threatened shop staff in both incidents, stealing cash and attempting to nab cigarettes.
Hammer-Wielding Thug Targets Shops Minutes Apart
The first raid happened at 7:00am at the Co-op on Ham Road. A man stormed in brandishing a hammer, threatening employees before making off with an undisclosed sum of cash.
Just minutes later, a similar attack was reported at Shoreham News on Buckingham Road. The same suspect tried to steal cigarettes, again intimidating staff with the hammer. Police confirm both robberies are linked and are chasing multiple leads.

- Height: Around 5ft 11in
- Build: Large and stocky
- Hair: Copper-coloured
- Clothing: Black hoodie, tracksuit bottoms, black trainers
Police Plea: Help Identify Hammer-Wielding Robber
Detectives are urging anyone who recognises the suspect or has CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from Shoreham around the time of the robberies to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to call 999 immediately and quote serial 270 of 10/05.”

No Injuries But Staff Left Shaken
Thankfully, no injuries were reported in either robbery. However, staff were left visibly shaken. Uniformed officers and forensic teams combed both crime scenes throughout the day.
