Unidentified Man Found Dead on Roa Island – Police Need Your Help!
Cumbria Police are desperate to ID a man found dead on Roa Island back in April 2023. Despite thorough investigations, his identity remains a mystery.
Mystery Man Found Washed Up
On the afternoon of April 30, 2023, Furness Coastguard alerted Cumbria Police after the body of a man washed ashore on Roa Island, just south of Rampside in Barrow-in-Furness. No ID was found on him, and there were no distinguishing tattoos, scars, or marks.
Forensic Artist Creates Face to Help Identify
To boost chances of ID, a Forensic Artist has generated a facial reconstruction showing how the man may have looked alive. He’s described as:
- White male
- Approximately 6 feet tall
- Estimated 50 to 70 years old
- Likely of European origin (possibly UK or Ireland)
- Believed to have recently shaved — may also be recognised with a beard or unshaven
Detective Pleads for Information
“Although we have limited information about the unidentified man, the image we have obtained for public release is of excellent quality and may lead to someone coming forward with crucial information. I encourage anyone who suspects they may have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact us today.” – Detective Inspector Laura Nield
His death is not being treated as suspicious. The priority is to give his family closure by identifying him.
