Murder Probe Launched After 21-Year-Old Stabbed to Death in Kennington
A brutal stabbing in South London has left a 21-year-old man dead outside a Kennington block of flats on Monday night (14 April).
Emergency crews rushed to Hillingdon Street, SE17, at around 9.16pm after reports of a serious stabbing in this typically quiet residential area.
Despite rapid response from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, the young man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still trying to notify his next of kin.
Six Arrested as Police Crack Down on Kennington Killing
The Metropolitan Police have swooped, arresting six suspects — five men and one woman in their 20s — on suspicion of murder. All remain in custody for questioning.
A major police cordon still blankets the area with a yellow forensic tent marking the grim scene. Multiple crime scenes have been set up as detectives dig deeper into the fatal attack. Locals are urged to avoid the neighbourhood where possible.
Police Beg Witnesses for Crucial Information
Borough Commander Emma Bond, overseeing policing in Southwark, called the stabbing “shocking and unsettling” for local residents.
“Our investigations continue and there will be an increased police presence in the area. I advise anyone in the community who has concerns to speak to their local officers,” she said.
“Please, if you saw, heard, or have any footage following last night’s incident, then please come forward. Your information can significantly help our detectives.”
Emergency Services Responded Within Minutes
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed they received the emergency call at 9.16pm and deployed a full emergency response, including paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance. The first crew arrived within four minutes.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency responders, he died at the scene,” the spokesperson added.
