Man held after fatal Mitcham stabbing
Tragedy on Maple Close
A 39-year-old man has died following a stabbing in Mitcham, South London. Police and paramedics rushed to a home in Maple Close at around 7.30pm on Monday, 28 April. The victim suffered serious stab wounds and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he sadly passed away. His next of kin have been informed, with formal identification underway.
24-Year-Old Arrested on Murder Suspicion
A 24-year-old man handed himself in at a south London police station on Tuesday afternoon, 29 April. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody as police continue their investigations.
Police Boost Patrols to Reassure Mitcham Community
Following the fatal stabbing, officers have increased patrols across Mitcham to provide reassurance and maintain public safety.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, leading the probe, said:
“The victim’s loved ones are being supported by specially trained officers. They have our deepest sympathies following this terrible loss.
