Man Seriously Injured in Shocking West Bromwich Dog Attack
A man suffered serious injuries after a brutal dog attack in West Bromwich this afternoon.
Attack in Ripon Drive Garden
West Midlands Police were called to a property on Ripon Drive at around 4:40pm following reports of the man being attacked in the garden behind the house.
Ambulance crews treated the victim at the scene before rushing him to hospital. His injuries are serious, but no further information on his condition has been released.
Dog Tasered and Dies at Scene
Specialist officers from the West Midlands Police Dog Unit were deployed to the scene. They used a Taser to subdue the dog involved, which later died there. The breed of the dog has not been confirmed.
Police have assured the public that there is no wider threat to the community and the attack appears isolated to the property.
Extra Police Patrols to Reassure Locals
In response to community concerns, extra officers will patrol Ripon Drive and surrounding areas through the evening to provide reassurance.
“We realise incidents of this nature are concerning to the community, so we will have extra officers in the area tonight to offer reassurance,” a West Midlands Police spokesperson said.
Investigation Underway – Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the attack. They are asking anyone with information to get in touch.
