Met Police Swamped with 40 New Sexual Assault Reports Against Late Tycoon Mohamed Al Fayed
The Metropolitan Police have been bombarded with fresh claims following a recent media blitz and public appeal involving the late businessman Mohamed Al Fayed. In a staggering twist, cops have now recorded 40 new allegations of sexual assault and rape—each from a separate victim-survivor.
Shock Figures Span Decades: 1979 to 2013
Commander Stephen Clayman revealed these fresh reports cover offences dating back to 1979 and reach as recently as 2013. He said: “These are in addition to allegations we were aware of before the broadcast,” highlighting how the recent media coverage sparked a surge.
This pushes the total allegations against Al Fayed up to at least 61. Before the latest revelations, police had logged 21 separate accusations.
Probe Expands Beyond Harrods
Most complaints relate to Al Fayed’s time owning Harrods, but detectives are broadening the inquiry. They’re reaching out to figures connected to his other businesses, desperate to find any potential victims and encourage them to come forward.
Commander Clayman praised victims’ bravery and reassured that specially trained detectives are ready to listen and support. “All these reports will need to be formally logged and assessed to see if there are any allegations of criminality that can be pursued,” he stressed.
Police Call for More Witnesses Amid Ongoing Investigation
- Dedicated phone line and online portal set up for reports
- Police urge anyone with info to come forward
- Though Al Fayed is dead, authorities are eyeing potential charges against others
The Met remains committed to a thorough investigation as they comb through all leads. For now, they urge anyone with information on Al Fayed’s conduct or those who may have enabled wrongdoing to speak up immediately.
