Massive Tornado Threat Hits 10 States – 80 Million People on Alert

Brace yourselves, America! Nearly 80 million residents across 10 states face a terrifying tornado outbreak in the next few hours. Severe thunderstorms will roar from the southern Plains to the southern Great Lakes by early evening.

The danger zones include Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Tennessee.

EF3 Tornadoes and Golf Ball Hail Expected

AccuWeather’s senior meteorologist Adam Douty sounded the alarm: “This could be the largest outbreak of severe weather so far this year.”

Tornadoes in northern and central areas may ramp up to EF2 or EF3 strength, whipping winds past 110 mph. Illinois and Indiana are bracing for particularly nasty conditions, with an “Enhanced Risk” of killer twisters.

Meanwhile, violent hailstorms—featuring golf-ball-sized hail—and fierce damaging winds will slam west Texas, Oklahoma, and the southern Plains.

Experts warn even one tornado hitting a populated area can cause deadly devastation, no matter how big the outbreak.

Deadly Nighttime Tornadoes Make Situation Worse

The storm clusters will gather strength and barrel east into the Midwest and Ohio Valley overnight, staying brutal. Expect more rotating thunderstorms to spawn additional hail, fierce winds, and isolated tornadoes moving through Missouri and beyond.

Forecasters warn that tornadoes after dark are particularly dangerous. While most people sleep, warnings might go unheard, doubling the risk of fatalities compared to daytime twisters, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Residents must have multiple alert systems ready and stay on high alert through the night.

Officials Demand Immediate Action

Alex Sosnowski, meteorologist at AccuWeather, urged the public:

“People should take the upcoming severe weather outbreak threat seriously.”

With storms intensifying and continuing after dark, there’s no time to waste. Stay alert, stay safe – and keep your eyes on the swirling skies tonight.
