Two More Held and Gun Seized in Shocking Southampton Stabbing
Police have arrested two more suspects and found a firearm during a raid linked to the brutal murder of former boxer Michael Freshwater in Southampton.
Former Boxer Found Stabbed to Death
Michael Freshwater’s lifeless body was discovered at a Westridge Road home shortly after 4:15pm on Friday, April 29. The 41-year-old was savagely stabbed to death, sparking a major police investigation.
Firearm Found but No Gun Injuries
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Heelan told reporters: “We are following multiple lines of enquiry after this horrific killing. Our team has spoken to witnesses and gathered vital evidence from the scene.”
He added, “A firearm present at the murder scene has been recovered, though thankfully no one was shot or injured by it.”
Two More Suspects in Custody
Meanwhile, two men from Southampton have been locked up and are being questioned:
- A 22-year-old arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender
- A 44-year-old held for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs
Both remain in police custody as inquiries continue.
Police Urge Public to Speak Up
Detectives are urging anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious near the Westridge Road address to come forward. “Please get in touch, in confidence, if you have any information about this tragic incident,” said DCI Heelan.
