More Arrests in Shocking Southampton Boxer Murder
Police have made two more arrests and found a firearm in a fresh twist to the brutal murder of former boxer Michael Freshwater in Southampton.
Boxer Stabbed to Death in Southampton
Michael Freshwater’s body was discovered at a Westridge Road address just after 4:15pm on Friday, April 29. He had been viciously stabbed to death, sparking a high-profile investigation by Hampshire Police.
Firearm Found at Murder Scene
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Heelan revealed officers located a firearm believed to have been present during the murder. “There is nothing to suggest anyone was injured by the firearm,” he said, but its discovery adds a grim new element to the case.
Two More Arrests Made
- A 22-year-old Southampton man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
- A 44-year-old Southampton man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.
Both remain in custody for questioning as inquiries intensify.
Appeal for Witnesses
“We are following several lines of enquiry and want to hear from anyone who saw or heard a dispute at the address,” said DCI Heelan. “Please come forward in confidence and tell us what you know.”
