Kent Police Snag Suspected Thief with £1,600 Worth of Stolen Goods

A routine patrol by a Kent Police dog handler turned into a major bust on Sunday, 27 March 2022. The driver of a suspicious vehicle tried to dodge the police but was soon caught on the A229.

Suspicious Driver Caught Red-Handed

Officers stopped the car after noting the driver’s dodgy behaviour. A quick search revealed over £600 worth of goods, including a haul of fragrance reed diffusers and Next clothing — all with tags still attached. The driver couldn’t explain why he had these items and had no receipts.

More Stolen Items Discovered at Home

The 39-year-old suspect, from the local area, was arrested on suspicion of theft. When taken into custody, officers seized his jacket, hooded top, and t-shirt—all still with tags. A further search of his home uncovered more suspected stolen clothes valued at over £1,000.

The man has now been released pending further investigation as police dig deeper into the mystery haul.
