Drones Ground Rogue Riders in Sevenoaks
Kent Police crackdown on off-road troublemakers has taken to the skies. Officers from Sevenoaks Community Safety Unit teamed up with Kent’s Rural Task Force and special constables to use drone tech to pinpoint illegal motorbikes tearing through footpaths, bridleways, and nature reserves.
Riders Targeted After Resident Complaints
On Sunday 11 April 2021, patrols hit rural hotspots after locals reported dangerous antics by bikes and 4x4s threatening pedestrians and horse riders. The drone tracked suspects in Tinker Pot Lane, West Kingsdown; a quarry on Croydon Road, Westerham; and woodland near Farningham.
- Ten riders slapped with section 59 warnings.
- One uninsured motorbike seized near Farningham.
Police Issue Stark Warning to Offenders
“Residents have complained about the dangers these vehicles pose to others,” said Chief Inspector Mark Stubberfield, District Commander. “Noise pollution has also impacted local quality of life.” “Uninsured vehicles will be seized. Section 59 warnings can lead to seizure or destruction if antisocial behaviour continues. Some riders come from outside Kent, and we’re tracking registration numbers. We’ll be ready if they return.” “Local people have praised our efforts. We urge anyone witnessing nuisance motorcyclists to report incidents on the Kent Police website to help focus patrols effectively.”
