Motorway madness unfolded on the M6 last night when a driver sped the wrong way along the northbound carriageway for over six kilometres. The dangerous stunt sparked panic and forced a major motorway closure near Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Police Road Crime Team revealed they were bombarded with more than 30 frantic 999 calls reporting the wrong-way driver heading south from Junction 15. Motorists scrambled to alert authorities as the car raced against traffic.
Near Miss Close Call Shocks Drivers
“We immediately closed the motorway at J14 Northbound, ready to put ourselves in harm’s way to protect the public,” police said.
“The vehicle travelled over 6km before eventually stopping in lane 4… inches from a head-on collision. Miraculously, nobody was injured, and no damage was caused.”
Driver Temporarily Banned as Probe Continues
The confused driver has handed over their licence while police await a full DVLA and medical assessment. Authorities praised motorists for their quick 999 calls and vigilance in obeying motorway signals during the chaos.
