Murder Probe Underway After 86-Year-Old Pensioner Found Dead in Havering
A brutal murder investigation is in full swing after an 86-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Havering. Police were called to Ashmour Gardens, Romford, at 11:31am on Tuesday, 15 May following a report from the London Ambulance Service.
Grim Discovery at Romford Home
Officers rushed to the scene where the elderly woman was pronounced dead. Her next of kin have been informed, but formal identification is pending. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for 17 May.
Detective Details Cowardly Assault
Detective Inspector Paul Considine, leading the Homicide and Major Crime Command investigation, described the incident as “despicable.”
“The victim, an elderly lady who lived alone, had been subjected to a cowardly assault that left her with serious injuries. She was discovered by a handyman working at the address.”
Police believe the attack happened between 7:30am and 11:30am on 15 May. No arrests have been made so far.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Considine urged anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area to come forward immediately.
“Did you hear anyone in distress or notice someone acting out of place? Even a small bit of information could crack this case wide open. It’s vital we find those responsible for this horrendous offence.”
