Newcastle Fan Stabbed in Milan Hours Before Champions League Clash
Terrifying Attack on Eddie McKay
Newcastle United supporter Eddie McKay was brutally stabbed in Milan just hours before the Magpies’ Champions League showdown with AC Milan. The 58-year-old was attacked by a gang of seven or eight masked assailants in the Navigli district near midnight on Monday.
Eddie, accompanied by his son and a friend, suffered multiple stab wounds to his back and arms while trying to escape the gang. Despite serious injuries, he is now in stable condition in a Milan hospital.
Emergency Response and Police Action
Local paramedics rushed to the scene, providing immediate medical aid before Eddie was taken to Policlinico hospital. Police intervened during the attack and are investigating. Authorities confirmed the stabbing happened between via Segantini and via Gola.
“We are deeply concerned by reports that a supporter was seriously assaulted in Milan on Monday evening,” Newcastle United said in a statement. “We are liaising with local authorities to understand the circumstances. Our thoughts are with the supporter and their family, and we hope for a full and speedy recovery.”
Supporter Spirit Amidst the Scare
Newcastle has around 4,000 fans with tickets for the match in Milan, plus many more who have travelled without tickets to catch the action. The club’s family stands firmly behind Eddie as he recovers.
Fans and club officials alike are shaken but united, hoping this shocking attack won’t overshadow Newcastle’s big night in Italy.
