Police Commissioner Speaks Out
“This is a truly shocking incident in which one of our colleagues has lost his life in the most tragic circumstances. My heart goes out to his family, direct colleagues and friends,” Commissioner Cressida Dick said.
“We are supporting his family and have set up a dedicated team to help officers and witnesses in the custody centre. When a colleague dies on duty, it sends shockwaves throughout the Met and our communities. Policing is a family, and we will deeply mourn our colleague.”
Independent Probe Launched
The Met Police have handed the case over to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for an independent investigation. The Metropolitan Police continue to lead the murder inquiry as they work to uncover the full circumstances behind the shooting.
