Early Morning Crash in Newcastle Leaves Teen Fighting for Life
Pick-Up and Minibus Collide on Howard Street
Just before 5.15am on Sunday, October 3, police were alerted to a collision between a black Mitsubishi pick-up truck and a silver minibus on Howard Street. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Two Young Men Injured, One Critical
Officers from Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols teamed up with emergency services at the scene. Two passengers in the pick-up were rushed to hospital. A 17-year-old male suffered life-threatening injuries, while an 18-year-old male was also admitted. The minibus driver escaped with minor injuries.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Sergeant Matt Sykes said: “Our investigation is ongoing as we try to piece together how this collision happened. If you were on Howard Street around 5.10am and saw the black Mitsubishi pick-up and silver minibus, please get in touch.”
He added: “We’re looking for anyone who witnessed the crash, saw anyone fleeing the scene on foot, or has dashcam or mobile footage.”
