Knife thug caged for nearly 11 years after wallet robberies
Brian Williams terrorised two men with knife
Brian Williams, 32, from Duncan Road, Gillingham, has been jailed for 10 years and 9 months for knifepoint robberies. He targeted two men in separate attacks earlier in 2019 – first in Folkestone in April, then Gillingham in July.
Victims threatened and robbed at knife-point
On 24 April, Williams followed a man home in Foord Road, Folkestone. He grabbed the victim at the gate, pulled a knife from his sleeve, and threatened to stab him if he didn’t hand over his money. Williams snatched the wallet and fled.
Three months later, on 22 July, he struck again on Gillingham High Street. When another man tried to stop Williams stealing his wallet, the thug brandished a knife and forced him to hand it over before running off.
Caught on CCTV and locked up
CCTV footage linked Williams to both robberies. Police arrested him the next day after recognising his description. At Maidstone Crown Court on 2 October, Williams pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.
Police hail sentence as justice served
“Williams showed complete disregard for the fear and distress that threatening a person with a knife causes,” said PC Nicola Emery. “There is no justification for such behaviour and I am pleased he will no longer threaten innocent members of the public.”
