Hampshire Hit by Spate of Arson Attacks Targeting Vehicles and Homes
Hampshire Constabulary are hunting a suspect linked to 13 arson attacks since August 3. The fires, mostly struck between midnight and 5am, have left several vehicles, caravans, and motorhomes completely destroyed. Some incidents caused only minor damage, but others sparked serious property loss and endangered lives.
Cars, Caravans and Motorhomes Burned Out
Detective Inspector Adam Edwards revealed the extent of the damage. “We have seen several vehicles, caravans, and motorhomes completely burnt out as a result of these fires. More recently, the fire has spread to a home and endangered people’s lives,” he said.
He warned caravan and motorhome owners against sleeping in their vehicles overnight if parked outside their homes. “Make sure they are locked and secure. Remove any gas canisters and flammable items to reduce risk,” Edwards added.
Police Release CCTV Images of Suspect
Officers have CCTV images of a person seen near several fire scenes, watching emergency crews. “We would urge anyone recognising this individual to come forward,” said DI Edwards. “The pictures are grainy, but someone might know who they are.”
