Tragic Ongar Road Crash: Man Dead, Teen Girl Seriously Hurt
A tragic crash on Ongar Road near Herons Lane left a motorbike rider dead and a 17-year-old girl with potentially life-changing injuries. The smash happened just before 8pm on Tuesday, 10 August.
Motorbike Rider Killed, Teen Pillion Passenger Hospitalised
The motorbike rider died instantly at the scene. His pillion passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was seriously injured and rushed to hospital. The other vehicle involved was a small white Ford Escort van, which fled without stopping.
Police Hunt Van Driver Linked to Fatal Crash
Officers urgently want to speak to 50-year-old Adrian Bendell from Braintree in connection with the hit-and-run. Described as 6ft 1in with short greying brown hair, Bendell is believed to frequent local fishing lakes and pubs in the Braintree area.
“We are continuing to support the families of those involved in what is a truly awful time,” said Inspector Mark Fraser of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit. “Our enquiries are progressing and we need anyone who knows where Adrian Bendell is to contact us.”
