Youth Gang Chaos Hits Blackheath Easter Funfair – One Injured, Several Arrests

Violence Erupts at Blackheath Easter Funfair

A major disturbance involving a large group of youths rocked the Blackheath Easter funfair on Tuesday afternoon. Just before 3.50pm, chaos broke out on Prince Charles Road near Blackheath Common, sparking an emergency response from police, ambulance crews, and fire services.

One person was left with minor injuries but was quickly treated and discharged at the scene. How the individual was hurt remains unclear.

Swift Police Response and Multiple Arrests

Officers from the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene. The LAS confirmed they dispatched ambulance crews, incident response officers, and their Tactical Response Unit.

“We treated one person for minor injuries and discharged them at the scene,” said an LAS spokesperson.

Most of the unruly youths had fled before police arrived, but several arrests were made, including for possession of offensive weapons. The exact arrest count remains undisclosed.

Section 60 Order in Place – Police On Alert

In response to the disorder, police imposed a Section 60 order. This grants officers sweeping stop-and-search powers in the area without needing reasonable suspicion. The order is still in force as investigations continue.

“Police are dispersing any individuals who might still be around, with the majority cleared by late afternoon,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said. “Several arrests have been made, including for possession of offensive weapons. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Funfair Disrupted – Locals Demand Safety

The popular Easter funfair was severely disrupted by the disturbance. Police have not confirmed if the event will stay open or if extra security will be introduced.

Locals have voiced their fears on social media, questioning the safety of public gatherings during school holidays. Authorities urge anyone with information or footage to come forward to aid the investigation.
