Baby Elsa Mystery: Police Renew Hunt a Year On

Detectives are back on the case, seeking fresh leads a year after a newborn baby, nicknamed “Elsa,” was found abandoned in East London. Worryingly, concerns grow for the welfare of her parents—especially the mother.

The Shocking Discovery

On Thursday, 18 January 2024, a passerby spotted a tiny, newborn baby wrapped in a towel inside a shopping bag near Greenway and High Street South, E6. Miraculously unharmed, Elsa was rushed to hospital before being placed into care.

Links to Past Abandonments

Police from the Metropolitan Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Team uncovered a chilling connection. Elsa is biologically related to two other babies abandoned in the same area in 2017 and 2019 under similar heart-breaking circumstances.

Detective Inspector Jamie Humm said:

“We have reviewed over 450 hours of CCTV footage and completed a full DNA structure on the mother. Specialists believe the parents have lived in the Plaistow or East Ham area for the last six years.”

Police Appeal: Community’s Help Needed

Authorities fear for the parents’ wellbeing and are desperately seeking information from the public.

“Someone must have noticed this mother during her pregnancies,” DI Humm urged. “Professionals in health, education, or charities may have met her without realising. Even the smallest tip-off could be crucial.”
