Massive police operation in Reading after early morning bladed weapons incident

Armed police swoop on Oxford Road

Police flooded Oxford Road, Reading, at around 4.50am after reports of a violent altercation near Lloyds Pharmacy. Armed officers and other emergency services rushed to an address where several people were found carrying bladed weapons.

Road closed amid arrests

As a precaution, Oxford Road was shut down while officers secured the scene. Multiple arrests were made, but luckily, no serious injuries have been reported. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

Drivers urged to steer clear

Motorists were advised to avoid the area during the chaos. Paramedics remained on standby but did not treat anyone at the scene, according to South Central Ambulance Service.

Update: Road reopens, nine arrested

Oxford Road reopened by 11am after the incident. Nine people are now in custody, facing suspicion of public order offences and weapons charges.
