Emergency Services Respond After Person Falls Into Thames from Westminster Bridge

Emergency services are currently responding to a major incident after reports of a person falling into the River Thames from Westminster Bridge, central London.

The incident was first reported at around 4:40am today (May 2, 2025). A full emergency response — including the London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, Metropolitan Police, and the Coastguard — was launched to search for the individual believed to have entered the water.

The call was made to the London Coastguard, prompted a full emergency response directly under Westminster Bridge. Specialist water rescue units are on the scene alongside marine police units.

At this stage, it remains unclear how the person fell into the river. Crews are conducting a thorough search of the area and along the midstream Thames.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area around Westminster Bridge while emergency operations continue.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity or condition of the individual involved.

The public is asked to give emergency services space to carry out their work safely.
