Person Struck by Bus Sparks Major Emergency at Portsmouth

A busy Portsmouth road has been shut down after a person was hit and trapped under a bus late on Saturday night.

Emergency Services Rush to Park Lane

Just after 11.30pm on 29th January, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to Park Lane following reports of a female trapped beneath a bus.

Two fire engines, a rescue tender, an officer, and an ambulance quickly arrived at the scene. Firefighters freed the person from underneath the bus, who was then handed over to South Central Ambulance Service for urgent care.

Road Closures Cause Major Disruption

Hampshire Police have closed multiple nearby roads, affecting both vehicles and pedestrians. The affected streets include:

  • St Georges Road
  • Gunwharf Road
  • Park Road
  • Burnaby Road
  • Ordnance Row

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “One person has been released from under the bus by firefighters and South Central Ambulance Service. The person is now in their care. We cannot release further details at this time.”

Police were alerted at 11.36pm and arrived within minutes, maintaining a large emergency presence alongside fire crews.
