A person was treated for smoke inhalation after a blaze erupted outside a conservatory in Meopham, near Gravesend, on Saturday, 17 May 2025.

Smoke Scare on Wrotham Road

Kent Fire and Rescue Service swooped on a fire at a property on Wrotham Road, called in at 5:24pm. Two fire engines roared to the scene, arriving just before 5:50pm.

Firefighters donned breathing apparatus and blasted the flames with high-pressure hose reel jets. The fire was burning on the outside of a conservatory but was quickly brought under control.

One person suffered minor smoke inhalation but thankfully did not need hospital treatment.

Discarded Cigarette Sparks Blaze

A Kent Fire spokesperson revealed the fire was accidental, likely sparked by discarded smoking materials.

Crews stayed on site for a while to secure the area and stop the fire reigniting.
