Tragic Plane Crash Near Littleborough Kills Two Men

Specialist Teams Launch Full Probe
Experts from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) have been combing through the crash site since the accident. They will remain on location until tomorrow night before hauling the wreckage back to their Farnborough HQ for detailed examination.
An AAIB spokesperson said: “An accident involving a light aircraft near Rochdale, Greater Manchester, was reported on Tuesday morning. An investigation is underway with a multidisciplinary team inspecting the site.”
Mystery Deepens with Parachute Found in Power Lines
Dramatic photos reveal a large yellow parachute tangled in nearby electricity pylons. The chute is believed to be part of the plane’s automatic emergency system, adding a baffling twist to the tragedy.
A source told us: “It’s too early to speculate on the cause, but all lines of enquiry remain open.”
Flight Data and Company Info Emerge
The ill-fated plane, registered G-GXVV, took off from Birmingham Airport heading north. FlightRadar24 shows its last signal near Marsden, West Yorkshire, about 40 minutes after departure.
The aircraft belongs to Daedalus Aviation (Services) Ltd, a Birmingham firm specialising in pilot training flights. The company says it is cooperating fully with investigators but declined further comment.
Police Express Shock and Support for Bereaved
Greater Manchester Police’s Rochdale district Chief Superintendent Danny Inglis said: “This is a devastating incident where two people have lost their lives. Our thoughts are with their families and friends.”
He added: “We’re working closely with emergency services and partner agencies to uncover the full circumstances. Officers will remain at the scene overnight and into tomorrow.” The identities and destination of the victims have not yet been released.
