A shocking hit-and-run has left a 12-year-old boy fighting for his life in North Ormesby, Middlesbrough. The child was riding a black electric scooter along Kinnersley Street towards Maltby Street when a black VW Touareg crashed into him at the junction with Macbean Street at around 5.40pm on Sunday, June 23.

Driver Flees Scene Leaving Child Severely Hurt

The driver of the VW Touareg, registration SP57 NCF, did not stop after the collision, making this a hit-and-run. Police are now desperate for any information about the culprit and the vehicle involved.

Boy Suffers Multiple Serious Injuries

The young victim sustained horrendous injuries, including:

  • Skull fracture
  • Open head wound
  • Brain bleed
  • Fractured collarbone
  • Fractured right knee and left leg
  • Lacerations to right leg

He was rushed straight to hospital for urgent treatment.

Police Urge Witnesses and Driver to Come Forward

Authorities are appealing to the driver to do the right thing and come forward voluntarily. They also plea with anyone who saw the crash or has CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to get in touch.
